Dear Residents,

With Fall around the corner our 18 parks and playgrounds, on over 95 acres are a great way to enjoy the fall colors. When you are looking to cool down during the final days of summer the Oasis Pool is the place to beat the heat! Come and enjoy a cool dip in the pool and have a snack at our concession stand. Beginning August 19 the pool will be open on weekends from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. due to the high school and college age lifeguards returning to the classroom in mid-August.

Our final movie in the park will be on August 16 at dusk and will be held at Grennan Heights Park. The movie will be shown on a giant 46 foot screen and the featured film will be “Incredibles 2”.

There is still plenty of time for you to enjoy the fall colors at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course. Make sure to check out our all of our golf instruction programs. We have classes for all ages whether you are a beginner or an experienced golfer.

You won’t want to miss our October special events! Our family Monster Bash Halloween event will be on Friday October 18, the Halloween parade and party will be on Saturday October 26, and the Iceland Scary Skate will be on October 26. Make sure to make your calendars for these fun events.

You know Thanksgiving is right around the corner when the Halloween activities are over. Be on the lookout for our Harvest Hustle 5K run on October 19. All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to assist Niles families in need. Our Holiday Gingerbread House event where kids can decorate their own gingerbread house will be held on December 11. All of our special events can be found on pages 35-38 of this guide.

In our continued commitment to recreation we will be replacing the playgrounds at Jonquil Terrace Park and at Oak Park. Make sure to check out the new slides, swings, and climbing walls when you visit one of these parks.

We hope you have a chance to step outdoors and enjoy all that the Fall season has to offer in the Niles Park District. We appreciate your support and participation. If you ever have an idea for a new program, I would love to hear about it. You can always contact me with any comments or suggestions at 847-967-6633 or email me at
