TechStars Programs are exciting, fun, team-based experiences where students become producers of technology through cutting-edge technology and hands-on projects that build 21st Century skills and connect science, engineering, math (STEM) and the arts! TechStars programs are run by COMPUTER EXPLORERS. A minimum of 6 participants are required to run the class.

Robotics Adventures: Your child's imagination will soar when they meet Milo, the rover, and discover simple machines, engineering and programming. Will they win the firetruck race or build the strongest crane? Students will be challenged and have fun when they are encouraged to experiment and create while using the MIT designed, LEGO WeDo 2.0 system.

3D Design & Printing: Working with a partner and using Autodesk 123D Design and its easy-to-learn interface, learn how to design simple 3D objects, successfully prepare them for a 3D printer, and observe the 3D print process. Make something from scratch: if you can imagine it, you can create it. The best part? Students will go home with one small 3D printed model and a copy of their 123D Design files ready to send out for printing!

Video Game Animation with Scratch: Dive into the world of video game animation by using Scratch to create characters that dance, sing and interact with one another. Working in teams, you'll add sound effects and music clips to create a dynamic video animation game by using software created just for kids. Creativity rules in this fun version of video game design!

Game Making with Sploder: Students will have a ton of FUN using their creativity and strategy to develop a multi-level computer game with Sploder! They will work in pairs to create games like a Retro Arcade, Platformer, Physics Puzzle and 3D Space Adventure!

Supersleuth Detectives / CSI: Sherlock Holmes meets the 21st century! Use logic, technology and forensic science to solve mysteries. Work in teams to conduct field investigations and lab analysis. We'll use fingerprinting, tire tread patterns and much more. No blood, no gore, but excitement galore!

Digital Animator Studio: Do you have what it takes to develop the next Disney/Pixar Animated Blockbuster?! In this great program, work with a partner & learn what it takes to be a 3D Animator as you explore the CrazyTalk software with a partner to bring life to characters and creations. Want to know how the E*Trade Baby talks? How they created the Annoying Orange?? Join us in the 3D Animator's Studio to find out!

Claymation Cinema: Bring out the popcorn! Clay + Animation = Movie Making! Create, build, film and edit your own Claymation animated movie! Working in teams, you'll create characters out of clay and bring them to life using digital cameras and animation software & techniques. Direct and produce your own box office smash. You'll be famous when you take home your movie on at the end of camp to show your friends and family!

Camp Hollywood: Lights, Camera, Action with Digital Movie Making!: Is there is future Steven Spielberg in your house? As directors and producers we will work in teams to create our own story and script, build scenes and film and edit our own movie. We will use graphic editing techniques and stop motion animation, add special effects, background noise and music. At the end of the day, we will show our movies at a private screening! All students will be able to access their movie saved to the cloud after the class is complete.

Edison Programmable Robot Lab- Level 1: Meet Edison! Students will discover robotics as they work with Edison, the LEGO® compatible, programmable Bot! Students will use barcodes to program Edison to do everything from making music to 'battling" in the Sumo ring! Students ages 6 to 8 will also be introduced to basic graphical programming.

Physical Computing with Microbits: The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that you can code, customize and control to bring your digital ideas, games and apps to life. The microbit is a powerful mini-computer! Students will see their code come to life in a physical and tactile environment. They will create emoticon displays, games, messages, light and music. Kids will take home a Microbit kit at the end of class.

Minecraft Network Adventure: TechStars grants you access to a PROPRIETARY Minecraft world you can't get on your own! Learn fundamentals of computer networking through this unique Minecraft experience that also allows you and your friends to work in multiplayer mode as you mine, craft and build together to survive. Working with a partner, use your skills to explore all the secrets the world has to offer, including a mysterious castle filled with challenges. No matter whether you are new to Minecraft or already love the program, this program is for YOU!

Minecraft Power Users: Redstone & Mods: Explore the world of mods! Minecraft, one of the most popular video games in history, offers an amazing world of endless possibilities. Let your imagination transform your Minecraft experience into a unique world YOU create! This class is for Intermediate and Advanced students with basic Minecraft knowledge. Working in pairs, students will discover how to expand their worlds' abilities using popular game-enhancing mods. Learn to use, manipulate and evaluate mods that alter the appearance and game play. Build traps, arrow launchers, faster rail systems and more & participate in building challenges!

Fun-Gineering & WEDO Robotics Adventures: Two great programs in one! Young engineers will build working models of simple machines such as a crane, rolling vehicle and a merry-go-round. They will learn about levers, gears, pulleys, wheels and axles using LEGO® Simple Machines kits. Students will work in teams on activities designed around creativity, exploring, investigating and problem solving in a fun group environment. Note: No computers are used in this program. Aurasma Augmented Reality: Our exclusive new program introduces you to the 'magic' of Augmented Reality (AR). Working in pairs, you will bring the static world to life, creating content-rich interactive experiences in 3D and even 4D with the help of avatars, 3D models, animations and your own creativity. This powerful technology allows you to create and publish your own Augmented Reality content. Talking newspapers, holding a NASA spacecraft in your hand and bringing your lip syncing avatar to life will become your new augmented reality.

XBOX Video Game Coding: In this amazing course, you & a partner will work together and use Xbox controllers connected to PCs to design, code and present your own unique video game! Using an amazing software called KODU, learn to add objects & scoring elements, create paths, and add multiple characters. Navigate the Xbox 360 Gamepad and build your Coding skills as you create enjoyable, fun, and challenging games to share with your family and friends! Continue mastering your programming skills at home using your own Xbox 360 controller, a PC, and the FREE software.
